A Very Good Friday and a Good Friday Service at 7PM

Remember today as the saddest day in history.  If you do not have a church fellowship to meet with this evening, you are more than welcome to join us at Life’s Journey Christian Fellowship at 7:00 PM as we remember the saddest day in history in order to prepare our spirit, heart and mind to celebrate the greatest day in history.

Nearly two thousand years ago, the most innocent man in the history of the world was condemned by the most guilty panel of judges the world has ever experienced; me and you.  The man who knew no sin was the man who received the fullest penalty of the law for sin.  Jesus Christ came to earth to live a sinless life in order to fulfill the righteous law of God that the first man, Adam, failed to accomplish.  He lived this way so that he could die according to that same righteous law and bring life to all of us who already stood condemned.  “‘He himself bore our sins’ in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; ‘by his wounds you have been healed'” (1 Peter 2:24).

Today when you see the evil of the world, don’t point a condemning finger at your neighbor or “those people”.  First look in the mirror and know the bad news; that because of you Christ died.  Then know the greatest news; that for you Christ died.  Because of me, the man who knew no shame became shame for me.  Understand this truth as G.K. Chesterton who, when asked, “What’s Wrong with the World?”, so insightfully replied,  “I am. Yours truly”.  Yet, come to understand the greater truth that because of his love for me he died to set me free

Today with tears of sorrow we remember the death of the Lord Jesus so that we may prepare our hearts to celebrate the coming Sunday as the greatest day in history; the day He swallowed “up death forever” (Isaiah 25:8) when he rose from the dead.
