Preached by Rod Benner (00:42)
Rod continues his series in the book of Acts. The Church is not a building or a weekly social club. The Church is the worldwide group of people who believe in and follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. Jesus proved He is the Son of God and the King of all creation and therefore the people known collectively as the Church treat him as such. The Church began as a wide group of people who devoted themselves to the apostles teachings and the Church continues in the same way today. There exists a wide diversity of opinion and understanding particularly when it comes to applying the teachings of Jesus (on which the teachings of the apostles are found), but the underlying bond that makes this diverse body a unified entity is that lovers of Jesus seek to understand him more and love one another as Jesus loves each one. Being a part of the Church doesn’t mean total agreement on every facet of the Bible, but it must mean being devoted to always learn and adjust to the apostles teaching – which is Jesus’ teaching – and to the fellowship and love of one another. When you choose to submit to Jesus as Lord and boss, you immediately become a member of the Church and you can immediately begin to act like it. Love God and love others in every way that you are so enabled to do.
