How many times do you know what you should do, but you don’t do it? Have you ever found yourself bargaining with God? Saying, “God, I know you said do this, but what if I just do a part of it? How about the heart of the issue. The particulars you told me don’t really matter, right?”
King Saul was known for partial obedience. This saddened God and made him regret choosing Saul as King. Saul lost his kingdom because he consistently choose to partially obey God. Through Saul we learn that partial obedience is still disobedience. How often are you partially obedient to what you know God desires of you?
Jesus gives grace and his blood covers a multitude of sin and even in our disobedience we find God’s mercy. Obedience isn’t about getting points for completing a task, it’s a heart issue that reveals our love for and submission to God. Doing what God commands in the wrong attitude is still disobedience. God wants everything, but we often want to keep some control. The irony is that keeping partial control leads only to harm for us. We don’t want to submit to God even though it’s for our best interest. God loves you and his call to obedience is a call of love for you.
Listen as Sherry provides deep insight why obedience to God is so important.
