Give – Jesus takes the lead
As you grow into a mature faith in Jesus you will begin to know more intimately the Holy Spirit. Jesus sent his people the Spirit of truth who “will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.” (John 16:13)
The give stage is when God begins to call you “out upon the waters where feet may fail.” This is when the Holy Spirit begins to reveal to you gifts that he has given you to fufill your purpose and to better love and encourage others. You begin to give through: acts of service, acts of charity, acts of ministry, acts of love. This can be a scary time in your Christian life because it requires true faith; “the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1). Just as Peter was called by Jesus out onto the water, God will begin to show you where to go and what to do. Just as any job you’ve every worked at, there will be a time of learning the task and plenty times of making mistakes as you learn the task, but this is a part of learning to give and becoming better at giving. You give to others what he gave to you; mercy, grace, love and forgiveness.
