January 17, 2016 – Infallible Proofs: You can bet your life on them

Preached by Rod Benner (00:54)

Rod continues a study in the book of Acts.

The foundation of Christianity is the resurrection of Jesus.  Christians do not worship a dead man, they worship a living God.  Luke emphasized to Theophilus that Jesus spent 40 days after his resurrection with his disciples proving to them he was really dead and now really alive.  The first Christians didn’t make believe a story or create some legend to spread for their own benefit.  They saw their leader die; there was no mistake of the outcome of a Roman crucifixion. They believed he died and didn’t even believe the first stories that he was alive.  They all doubted at first. Jesus came back and stayed with them forty days to let it all sink in.  The book of Acts wasn’t written as a candidate for entry into a new, up-and-coming holy book.  He wrote a letter to a friend to explain what he had seen and heard and believed.  All of the New Testament letters are now a part of a “religious holy book”, but they were first and foremost letters between friends explaining what Christ is all about; first hand accounts of what are now historic events offering the infallible proofs of who Jesus is and what he did and what he intends to do today.
